Bicycling
For easy family riding try Dartmouth s Multi-Use Trail, 7-km of hard-surfaced trail winding from Sullivan s Pond along the lakes to Shubie Park, or the 39 kilometres of forested trails in beautiful oceanside Point Pleasant Park (no bicycles weekends or holidays). The following suggested circular tours are along local highways, suitable for sightseeing and recreational cycling:

Tennis

Walking, Hiking
There are a number of scenic trails providing a variety of walking experiences, a few of which are represented here. Several include Hearts in Motion marked walking paths. For information, call the Heart and Stroke Foundation at (902) 423-7530.

- Waterfront Walks the Halifax boardwalk, Ferry Terminal Park in Dartmouth, Fisherman s Cove at Eastern Passage, the DeWolfe Park in Bedford; all short hard-surface routes with wonderful views of the Harbour and Basin.
- Point Pleasant Park magnificent oceanside forest with ruins of historic forts; 39 kilometres of easy winding trails. Entrance at the south end of Tower Road and Point Pleasant Drive, Halifax.
- Trans Canada Trail Dartmouth winding from Sullivan s Pond along Lake Banook and Lake Mic Mac to connect with the trails along the Shubenacadie Canal, in Shubie Park; seven kilometres of wide path. Accessible at Sullivan s Pond, the south end of Lake Banook, Graham s Grove, Mic Mac Mall exit (Hwy. 111), Fairbanks Centre off Locks Road and Shubie Park.
- Hemlock Ravine Park wilder and steeper than Point Pleasant Park, with a romantic history. Five-kilometre trail network loops through an old-growth forest. Entrance at the top of Kent Avenue off the Bedford Highway (Route 2), or behind Grosvenor Wentworth Park School, off Kearney Lake Road ( Grosvenor Road to Castlehill Drive to Downing Street).
- Lewis Lake Provincial Park a wooded day-use park designed for enjoyment by seniors and the disabled. Hard-surface paths, fishing pier, picnicking facilities. On Rte. 3, between Exits 4 and 5 off Hwy. 103.
- Musquodoboit Trailway a 14.5 km recreational trail between Musquodoboit Harbour and Gibraltar Rock. Scenic trail along the Musquodoboit River, past lakes and rugged granite ridge. The trail can be accessed off Park Road behind the Eastern Shore Community Centre.
